Happy Birthday......

TO ME! Yes, today is my birthday, it's dubbed my magic birthday, cuz I am turning 27 on the 27th today. Since it falls on a monday this year, I decided to celebrate it this weekend. On Saturday night, I went out with my friend Kerry for dinner and drinks, emphasis on drinks. Since I've been working, my drinking has been curtailed to non-existent. So what do you think happens when i drink 6 margatinis at a Mexican restuarant? Yes, the inevitable happened, I got drunk, and she had to walk me up the steps to my house and put me inside, cuz i could barely walk. She laughed with giddiness the whole time, cuz her goal was to get me smashed for my b-day. Props to her for Mission Accomplished. I threw up a couple hours later after getting home, my guess was sometime around 3 am.
Sunday, I awoke without too bad a hangover, but a rash on my face, from i guess an allergic reaction to my drinking binge. Thankfully, it's not too bad, so today at work hopefully I won't get asked too many questions about my face and what happened. The rest of Sunday was spent golfing with some friends of mine from LetsGoKings. I hadn't golfed in ages, probably around the last time I had a drink. My game sucked, but it was fun to get out there for a couple hours and hit the ball around and kick it with great people whom I don't see too often.
Today will be pretty low-key, work, then go out for 1 drink with my friend Amado. My other friend Rachel who lives in Las Vegas, will be coming down this coming weekend and wants to celebrate my b-day then. We shall see what happens. Yesterday was a bit of a somber one, as have been the past couple days before my b-day. It is the birth date of my grandmother, who passed away Sept. 24, 2003. My sister Marie wrote a beautiful tribute to her on her site, expressing many of the same things I feel about my Grandma. You should check it out if you haven't already. Other things have been on my mind, and I may get to them this week. I will be back in circulation now, after a break from blogging. I just needed a break to get into my new job and finish up my tech school, which i did last week. I will share more stories about this and other things over the next few days. So stay tuned! Hope all are well out there and have a Happy Monday, I know I will!

The Olympics

I'm not the biggest of Olympic fans, but I do prefer the Winter over the Summer Olympics to watch, they have more events that I enjoy watching. Some of those events include figure skating, speed skating, curling and of course HOCKEY!!! The cool thing about the hockey tournament is the fact that NHL players play in it for their native countries, so teammates now become enemies for a week. Today was the last game for the NHL before a 17 day break, and the Kings played Dallas, our division rival. The Kings were playing like shit for 2 periods, and it looked bleak for my boys, going into the 3rd trailing 5-2. Somehow, someway, they remembered the great play they showed early in the year, and rallied to score 4 unanswered in the 3rd to win the game 6-5. Now the Kings have a modest 2 game winning streak, nothing to be too happy about, but considering they had lost 7 in a row before hand, I will take it.

Kathy and I went in on a ticket package to see 4 games, all on Saturday to help with my work schedule, and I'm excited to be goin to games again. 2 in March, and 2 in April, with the opportunity to buy playoff tix if they do make it. So now that the Olympics are here, what events are you looking forward to watching?

PS: I decided to add a video to my page, it's a song I'm just getting into right now, and after the come from behind Kings win today, I'm all fired up and this song fits my mood.

Happy Saturday

Well today was a great day for me. I got to sleep in a bit, and had plans to go see the Kings play the Blackhawks at 1pm. I had some breakfast, nice and relaxing, hanging out with my parents and kathy before the game. Then Kathy and I took the subway to Staples Center. Now, LA doesn't have a great mass transit system here, but what we do have isn't too bad. At least there is some form of it by where i live. I've been on the subways here, and it's not bad, just like the subways of other cities, but alot less crowded, since not too many people know about it or use it. Plus the other advantage of taking the subway to the game is to save 20 bucks on parking and not have to deal with the horrible traffic going on by Staples Center. They are developing a brand new entertainment complex by it, called LA Live. It should be pretty cool when it's done, but the havoc it's causing right now in the area for parking and traffic isn't fun.

It's been my first game at Staples in awhile, and decided to treat myself for my hard work at my new job with buying a sweet new practice jersey as pictured. What made the day perfect was that the Kings won 5-4 in OT, their first win in their last 8 games. I'd like to think that they won since this was the first game I actually got to see in the past 10, but that's just me being vain. Tonight I'm just takin it easy and relaxing. Tomorrow will be my Sunday visit to Church to thank God for all that he has blessed me with in my life. This will be my last week of school, and when it's all said and done, I will write about that and how it has changed me for the best in so many ways. Also, my hectic schedule finally lets up after this week, so I will have more time to blog and check out all of your sites as well. I do miss reading everyone's blogs everyday, and look forward to doing that again. I hope all of you out there have a good weekend and a good week upcoming.

Update

Hello, sorry for the lack of updates recently, my schedule has been kickin my butt. Work then school at night, i stare at a computer screen all day, the last thing i want to do when i get home is stare at a monitor to write. I am doing fine, the job is getting better and better every day that passes, and i have 9 days of school left. Freedom will be mine!!!

On a side note, my birthday is coming up on the 27th, and i'm not too excited about it. I usually am very happy to see my birthday, but not this year. With all the drama that has gone on in my circle of friends the past year, that takes alot of steam outta my b-day. I used to have a birthday dinner with all my friends getting together for a night of laughs and drinks, I may post a pic or 2 from the good ol' days. This year I may actually go snowboarding by myself with the Young Adults group from my church. It would be a chance for me to meet new people, plus get some much needed excitement in my life to spice up the boring day to day activites. We'll see what happens, I should know by the weekend.

I hope all of you are doing well out there, once my nutty schedule ends on the 17th, I'll get back into posting more of what's goin on. The sad thing is, I haven't had much time to watch my Kings play. Actually, that may be a good thing, cuz since I stopped watching they've lost 8 of 10 and are falling further and further back in the playoff race. I will be goin to a game this Saturday, to watch them play Chicago. Have a great day today, and enjoy the rest of the week!
