What a letdown/work progress

Today was the day of the big game for me in the World Cup, Mexico vs. Argentina in the round of 16, winner moves on, loser goes home. It started off so well for my peeps, with Marquez of Mexico scoring in the 10th minute of the game, but it all went downhill after that. Argentina tied it up on a goal that looked like was headed in by one of Mexico's own players, but was credited to Hernan Crespo of Argentina. The game went into extra time tied 1-1, and in the 98th minute, the most beautiful goal scored of the tournament was scored by Rodriguez of Argentina, giving them the lead that they would hold onto 2-1. Mexico is now out, and I'm bummed out about that. First the US gets eliminated, now Mexico, all my rooting interest teams are gone.

On a brighter note, this week at work i was given a raise! I guess my boss and company is satisfied by the work I've done since I've been there, and while I acknowledged that I'm grossly underpaid, this raise was a nice surprise. For my first entry into the IT world, starting off not knowing how to write SQL codes and process data, I am proud to say that I have put in the effort to get better and have in the months that have gone by. I have learned so much about my field in these short months, and now have been given more responsibilites within the company. I'm a junior Network Administrator to our FTP server, and have more duties with keeping the network goin smoothly, on top of my data work. I'm grateful to have this job and to get this experience which will go a long way for me in the future. My next challenge is to finally take the A+ exam, which will be in 3 weeks. After that, I will be going for my MCP. I'd like to take the test for Server 2003, but we'll see about that after I take the A+.

Oh well, at least in 12 days I'll be in Las Vegas watching Pearl Jam play at the MGM Grand Garden Arena!!!

I'm so envious. I love Vegas and need a vacation in the worst kind of way.
